Going to a new therapist for the first time can be a daunting experience. I aim to create a supportive, open, and safe environment for you to talk about your difficulties. My role is to work collaboratively with each person to understand their strengths, and capitalising on those strengths to help them make functional improvements in their life. I take a holistic approach to therapy, exploring your culture, history, and current circumstances to understand your internal world. We will also work together to appreciate the patterns in your triggers, thoughts, behaviours, and emotions with compassion. My ultimate goal is to help you independently learn to cope and live a more fulfilling life.
I have experience working with a range of mental health issues, including low mood, anxiety-related difficulties, sleep problems, OCD, relationship issues, life stress, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and grief. My treatment approach is based on Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and I also integrate strategies from other techniques such as schema therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy.
I completed my Masters of Clinical Psychology and PhD at the University of New South Wales. My PhD was on understanding social difficulties in hoarding disorder, and how we can target those to improve treatment outcomes. I am currently also working as a postdoctoral research fellow, conducting research on improving treatments for anxiety. I believe in conducting therapy in an evidence-based way and am passionate about conducting research to understand how we can improve our mental health treatments while understanding their context. I am also a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).
Outside of work, I like to cook, play squash, and hang out with my dog, a Japanese Spitz named Lychee.
